Project Overview

The digital signage project at Durham College aimed to enhance campus communication and provide valuable information to students, faculty, and visitors. Strategically placed flat screen televisions throughout the campus displayed a variety of pertinent information including the time, date, weather, menu items, advertisements, and other relevant announcements. This dynamic digital signage served as a modern communication tool catering to the diverse needs of the college community.

About Project

The project integrated various skills and technologies to create an engaging digital signage solution. Components such as motion graphics videos, graphic design elements, coding, GSAP animations, SVG elements, and PHP/database integration were employed to develop a comprehensive system. The primary objective was to highlight the significance of digital communication while showcasing innovative advertising methods and streamlined information updates.

Objective & Challenges

The project aimed to seamlessly merge multiple elements into an intuitive digital signage system for Durham College. Challenges included coordinating diverse components and ensuring visual coherence. Design and coding were essential for sections like the logo display and weather updates, which involved HTML/CSS coding. GSAP animations were utilized to create dynamic motion graphic ads and promotional posters. The project required proficient use of JavaScript and database management, enhancing skill sets and contributing to a polished final product.

The Process

The project commenced with comprehensive research into Rome's unique features and travel trends, guiding the development of a concept aligned with Expedia's objectives. Storyboarding facilitated the planning of visuals and text elements, followed by content creation using Adobe Illustrator and After Effects.

Iterative editing and refinement ensured the video's pacing and messaging resonated with the target audience, with stakeholder feedback driving improvements. Integration of Expedia branding and a clear call-to-action was prioritized throughout.Through a systematic approach to content creation and collaboration, the project successfully showcased Rome's allure while promoting Expedia as the preferred platform for travelers.
